  • The Flagstaff Unified School District has notified property tax payers that a Truth in Taxation Public Hearing will be held on June 28, 2016 at 5:30 PM at the District Administrative Center, 3285 E. Sparrow Ave., Flagstaff, AZ.

The hearing will cover the additional levies above the State established Qualifying Tax Levies for School Districts.   One portion of these levies is for the adjacent ways fund which provides for site improvements to assure safety and security at all school locations.  For the 2016-2017 Budget the District is proposing to levy $314,102 for the adjacent ways fund.  The $314,102 levy will add $.0289 to the primary tax rate and result in an increased tax for the year of $ 2.89 for a $100,000 house.  All interested citizens are invited to attend the public hearing on June 28, 2016.

  • FUSD will be adopting a new textbook for Advance Placement U.S. Government and Politics classes at the  beginning of the 2016 Fall semester.  "Government in America" (Edwards, Wattenberg, Lineberry)16th edition, has been a staple of AP Government classes and has been given credit for accurately covering major themes found on the AP Government/Politics exam.

    From the Pearson/Longman overview:

"The text frames the study of U.S. government within a public policy approach, focuses on the theme that “politics matters,” and gets students involved in politics with active learning features."

This textbook will be available for review by the general public for 30 days starting May 31 – June 30, 2016 at the District Office in the Curriculum and Instruction office.
